At the 7th annual It’s Great to be a Teacher in Hawaii event (IGTBATHI2022), you will find out how to become a licensed teacher and be part of a movement that will make a difference for Hawaii’s future generations. With all the different pathways to becoming a teacher, sometimes it’s hard to know where to start. The IGTBATHI2022 is that starting point. This event represents all the different initial licensure program options available in Hawaii, including public, private, and alternative certification teacher education organizations. Come join us!

Yes! Although this event is tailored to home-growing local teachers in our state, this event is open to everyone. If you are not currently in Hawaii, as long as you take into account the time difference, you are welcome to attend.
The TECC was created through Section 304-20 of the Hawai‘i Revised Statutes in 1965 and is tasked to identify, study, take action, or make recommendations on matters of education of common interest to the department of education and the institutions of higher learning in Hawaii. The membership of the committee includes all the educator preparation programs in the state, as well as the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board (HTSB), the Hawaii State Teacher Association (HSTA), and other parties interested in teacher preparation, recruitment, support, and retention in the state. TECC is chaired in alternate years by the superintendent of Hawaii State Department of Education (HIDOE) and the Dean of the College of Education at the University of Hawaii - Mānoa (UHM-COE).
